Life As An Independent Artist - Part 2

Life as an independent artist is not always easy, but hard work is the key. Everyone's ultimate goal in life is to do what they love to do. However, nobody tells you all the levels of emotions and effort that go into it. As I mentioned in part one, there are financial risks, relationships, and time aspects. So, let's discuss it from a mental, physical, and spiritual place.

Mental Health

When you think about chasing a dream or achieving a goal, they often go up, and when they go down. We are always in love with the ups, but the downs bring us down. This is where you must channel your grit to continue and persevere through it. Although the easiest thing to do is give up, at this point, you're letting defeat win. Your mental health is disturbed while you fight through experiences you never had before. One thing I can say is to have a support system. Remaining quiet and trying to accomplish this alone can be exhausting and change the energy you display when you do not see it yourself.

Physical Health

As for physically, you need to take care of yourself. Mental health is one part, but several components keep the body in shape. Try creating yourself a routine and find time to work out. It does not mean you have to hit the gym all the time. It just means take the time to eat right, get enough sleep, stretch, and stay hydrated. I am saying this because when you are focused on completing something, the tendency to forget gets high even under stress. Therefore, take the needed time in the morning, afternoon, or evening to distress. Let's not forget the other important factor, get help from a medical professional. You do not have to take medicine, but you can also look for natural treatments.

Spiritual Mindset

This next part might not be for everyone but believing in a higher power is vital within itself. Speaking things into existence is great, but thinking and acting are critical. It means to have a spiritual connection and let it be your guide. Nothing you do is by yourself; the will of a higher power always has presence. Putting your faith in God will keep you grounded; it will still be challenging, but everything will make you better and test your faith. Keep these at the forefront, no matter how hard it may seem. I am a firm believer that nothing will last forever.

Final Thoughts

Again, this is not all I have to say about being an independent artist, and I am just touching the surface. Also, this does not just have to be an article about music. Anyone with a dream or passion can use it as a learning experience. Everyone has to start somewhere and share their thoughts to help guide another person on their path to greatness. These are vital mentions that I tend to forget and have to remind myself of daily. So for all you dreamers out there, keep dreaming through this reality. You will get through it, and those lows will turn into more highs.
